For the second year running my work to be included in the prestigeous book - The World's Greatest Erotic Art of Today
EROTIC SIGNATURE ART COMPETITION WINNER!!
On New Year's Eve last night the winners were announced in the 2007 erotic art competition. Erotic Signature is an international erotic art competition now in its second year. The competition nominates a prize winner in five categories - Fine Art, Photography, Digital Art, Sculpture and the Viewer's Choice as well as an overall Master Award. In addition, 200 runners up from the thousands of entries are included in the prestigious coffee table book, The World's Greatest Erotic Art of Today. All the proceeds go to nominated HIV charities.
Last year (2006) I won the SCULPTURE PRIZE catagory with my piece The Spice of Life. The sculpture features as the winning piece in the book The World's Greatest Erotic Art of Today Vol I. This year (2007) my latest major sculpture, The Impossibility of Passion, was selected to be included in the sculpture section of the 200 page must have coffee table book The World's Greatest Erotic Art of Today Vol II . It is an honour and a privelage to have been selected for inclusion in this definitive erotic art who's who for the second year in a row. Sensual art is not the only direction in my work, which spans many areas, but it is a recurrent theme in my Neo Surreaslist and Sexidermy series.
The winning artists work from the last two years will be featured in a six-month exhibition that will follow the Awards Ceremony in May 2008 and will include five different cities in the United States & Europe (details available nearer the time).
SUPPORTING LOCAL ARTISTS - The healing power of art
The Unitarian Church in Brighton is currently holding a week long exhibition (until Jan 5th) of work by local artists. All the artists have experinced some trauma in their lives. Their art has been part of the recovery process and the exhibition is a testament to the positive effects of art in our lives.
I was delighted to be asked to support the show by displaying my own work along with local celebrity actress Patsy Palmer (East Enders) and celebrated local painter Julie-Anne Gilburt.
Unitarian Church Hall, New Road (next to Theatre Royal), Brighton every day up to and including January 5th.
